Council announces plans to reopen Caravan and Camping bookings from 22 June

Tourism in the Mid Ulster district is to get a welcome boost as Mid Ulster District Council announced plans to allow bookings for its caravan and camping sites at Dungannon Park and Ballyronan Marina from next Monday, 22 June.

Keen caravan owners and campers will be able to book for accommodation in advance of the reopening date of 3 July, and site staff have been preparing to welcome customers back then, with enhanced hygiene and new social distancing measures in place.

Chair of Mid Ulster District Council, Councillor Cathal Mallaghan has said:

“The tourism industry in Mid Ulster, in common with all areas, has been severely hit and faced many challenges in past months caused by the impact Covid-19 has had, not only on our hospitality trade, but also on our wider local economy.

“Mid Ulster is ideally situated for your next ‘staycation’, with beautiful countryside and our rich history, heritage and culture that attracts people from all over the world every year. We’re looking forward to taking this first step in safely reopening our caravan and camping facilities and indeed, our region to new and returning visitors once again.”

To ensure social distancing can be more readily maintained, 12 pitches will be available initially at Dungannon Park and 6 in Ballyronan. Directional signage will also be in place to control flow of traffic, and contactless methods of check-in and payment will be in operation.

Initially, self-contained units will be accepted for booking, as toilet, laundry and shower blocks remain closed, with temporary toileting facilities available.

To book, visit www.midulstercouncil.org/caravanandcamp or telephone Dungannon Park on 028 8772 8690 or Ballyronan Marina on 028 7941 8399.
