Council wins second littering prosecution

This week saw another successful littering prosecution for Mid Ulster District Council.

At Dungannon Magistrate’s Court a woman was successfully prosecuted by the Council for a littering offence.

The woman was also prosecuted for failing to comply with the requirements of the notice served, relating to the above.

The defendant was ordered to pay a £90 fine for littering, £40 fine for failure to comply, as well as legal and court costs totalling £196.

Speaking after the proceedings, Chair of Mid Ulster District Council, Councillor Martin Kearney said,

This is the second successful littering case brought by the Council in recent months, reinforcing our continued commitment to clamp down on littering. The Council will be continuing this enforcement going forward so think before you litter, is it worth the price?
