Maghera completes Mid Ulster Leisure Centre Re-opening

Today, Monday 27 July, saw the fourth and final Mid Ulster District Council leisure centre re-open, as Maghera Leisure Centre joined centres in Cookstown, Dungannon and Magherafelt in returning to provision of leisure services to local residents.

Chair of Mid Ulster District Council, Councillor Cathal Mallaghan welcomed the re-opening, saying:

“As with all other facilities, though our warm welcome will not have changed, we’re asking users to expect a slightly different experience when they come back, and even more importantly for the users of these facilities, to abide by the rules that are in place for both their own and others safety and enjoyment.”

New arrangements have been put in place to ensure the highest standards of health and safety to ensure residents can be welcomed back to leisure facilities with piece of mind.

Initially, the gym and resistance suite are open, with a timetable of group exercise classes in place. Opening arrangements for the soft play area in the Centre are to be announced in due course.

For further details of these new arrangements, customers can contact Maghera Leisure Centre on 028 7954 7400, or go to the Council’s web site at
