Greenvale Fitness Suite Revamp Starting This Week
The next phase of Mid Ulster District Council’s investment programme in leisure services is due to transform the fitness suite at Greenvale Leisure Centre.
Refurbishment work will begin on Thursday 23 September to replace equipment in the suite, including existing treadmills and cross trainers. It will also include the addition of new CV (cardiovascular) and strength equipment including step mills and Jacobs ladders; the redesign of the functional and HIIT training areas; installation of new flooring and redecoration of the space, with the gym closing temporarily for two weeks to facilitate the upgrade.
Chair of Mid Ulster District Council, Councillor Paul McLean welcoming the investment of just under £250,000 in the Greenvale leisure centre’s facilities, said:
“We’re committed to offering the best facilities to our customers so these refurbishment works are absolutely essential as modern fitness trends and expectations evolve. In recent years, the Council has invested heavily in improving our leisure facilities across Mid Ulster, and most recently in Greenvale Leisure Centre just last August when a complete refurbishment of its spin studio was a big hit with members.
“We apologise for the brief closure of the fitness suite, but assure all our customers that they will see the benefits of our investment as soon as it reopens.”
The fitness suite will close from Thursday 23 September to Tuesday 12 October, reopening on Monday 13 October. During the closure, gym sessions will move into the main hall in the centre for the two weeks.
Spin classes and Yoga will remain onsite at Greenvale Leisure Centre. On Thursday 23, the 6.15am and 10am classes will be in the main hall at Greenvale Leisure Centre.
All of the centre’s classes will then transfer to Meadowbank Sports Arena from 1pm, Thursday 23 September – Wednesday 13 October.
All Greenvale Leisure Centre Fitness Suite members will be entitled to use gym facilities at other available Council facilities at Cookstown, Dungannon and Maghera Leisure Centres, and can book to do so through the Council’s online Leisure Hub.
