Weekend of food and family fun draws closer in Cookstown!

The Cookstown Continental Market will return to the town centre on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 May, bringing lots of delicious food, treats and entertainment to enjoy.

Organised by Mid Ulster District Council, in partnership with Cookstown Town Centre Forum, the continental market is part of Market Place Europe’s spring tour and will feature over 40 traders offering products from Dutch pancakes and waffles, to handmade crafts, jewellery, Dutch flowers and German beer.

Visitors to the market over the two-day event will also be kept entertained with a variety of street entertainment and live music. On Saturday there will be live music from Rwanda Shaw, the Hub Choir, Stones from David, the Swingtime Starlets and The Niamh Murray Band. Then on Sunday visitors can enjoy musical performances from Cherie Morgan, Small Corner and Band of Gold.

Over the weekend, children can visit the Carnival themed Kids Zone where there will be face painting, balloon modelling, circus crafts and carnival games and activities to enjoy, with superheroes and princesses to amuse even the little ones.

The continental market will take place along William Street in Cookstown town centre from Saturday 28 May (10am – 8pm) and Sunday 29 May (11am – 5pm). To facilitate the expected increased visitor numbers in a safe environment, a road closure will be in place along William Street from 6.30pm on Friday 27 May through to approximately 10pm on Sunday 29 May. The road closure will be in place from the Orritor Street/Coagh Street junction to the Burn Road/James Street junction.

Changing places facilities will be available at Tesco, Cookstown and a quiet space will be available at The Hub, Burn Road, Cookstown.
