Christmas kicks off in Dungannon with lights switch on and Magical Kingdom

Dungannon will once again be immersed in festive cheer when the town officially lights up for Christmas and the ‘Magical Christmas Kingdom’ makes a triumphant return to Hill of The O’Neill and Ranfurly House over the weekend 22 – 24 November.

The weekend, organised by Mid Ulster District Council, gets off to a merry start on Friday 22 November with the lights switch on in the town centre from 6pm-8.30pm. Market Square will be filled with festive cheer with free family entertainment taking place, including face painting, balloon modelling and festive walkabout characters, and children from local schools will perform on stage until Santa arrives to flick the switch and illuminate the town at approximately 8pm.

Then on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 November, Ranfurly House, at the heart of the town centre, again forms the gateway to the Magical Kingdom. The venue will host an array of Christmas activities including all the favourites – arts and crafts, face painting, balloon modelling, jump jiggle and jive and much more.

This year ASD Friendly Hours will take place in Ranfurly House on Saturday 23 November with arts and crafts from 10am-11am, and Santa’s Grotto from 11am-12pm. Booking is essential for both. For more information, and to book contact Box Office on 028 8772 8600.

The Hill of The O’Neill will again be transformed into a Magical Christmas Kingdom including a festive grotto experience. Embark on a fun-filled journey making memories with the family as you immerse yourself in the merry Christmas atmosphere.

Children can also visit ‘Santa’s Christmas Stables’ before travelling through the magical realms on their journey to meet the man himself, Santa, in his cosy grotto.

Chair of Mid Ulster District Council, Councillor Martin Kearney is looking forward to the return of the Magical Christmas Kingdom and the buzz it brings to the town.

The Magical Christmas Kingdom has proved to be a huge hit in Dungannon since its inception three years ago and I have no doubt that level of success will be replicated, and enhanced further, this year. It’s the perfect opportunity to showcase not only the fantastic facilities we have at Ranfurly House and the Hill of The O’Neill but also the terrific retail offering available in the town centre. Come Discover Dungannon this Christmas.

From Saturday 23rd November for a 6 week period car parking charges in off street pay and display car parks will be reduced to 10p for the first 3 hours.

The Magical Christmas Kingdom takes place at Hill of The O’Neill and Ranfurly House, Dungannon, on Saturday 23rd November from 12pm-5.30pm and Sunday 24th November from 1pm-4.30pm. For more information call 028 8772 8600 or visit: www.midulstercouncil.org/whatson.
