Expressions of Interest invited for Seachtain na Gaeilge

Mid Ulster District Council’s Seachtain na Gaeilge activity support scheme is to open for expressions of interest later this month (26 February).

Seachtain na Gaeilge is an annual international festival that runs from the 1st -17th March. The Festival seeks to celebrate and promote the Irish Language throughout this period through various schemes and activities delivered by and within the wider community.

The Council has a total of £5,000 funding to allocate to local community groups and individuals under the scheme.

Speaking about the funding, Chair of the Council’s Development Committee, Councillor John McNamee said,

The last year has been a very difficult one for most of us due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. This year’s Seachtain na Gaeilge funding is an opportunity for local community groups, individuals and Irish language enthusiasts in Mid Ulster to organise an event or activity that will profile the Irish language to a wider audience while at the same time, help to bring local communities virtually closer together. I would encourage any local community groups or individuals with a passion for the Irish language, and promoting it in today’s society, to submit an expression of interest for this funding when it opens later this month.

For more information on the Seachtain na Gaeilge scheme, and to submit an expression of interest when the scheme opens, contact the Council’s Irish Language Officer on 03000 132 132 or email
