A Festive Taste of Mid Ulster On Display

Town Centre visitors will be able to enjoy a festive taste of Mid Ulster in the run up to Christmas this year courtesy of three of the region’s most talented chefs. 

Norah Brown MBE from Grange Lodge Country House, Sean Owens from Chef Skills Online, and Bronagh Duffin from Bakehouse NI will each create a three course meal specially developed for the occasion, using locally sourced produce in a series of live cookery demonstrations this November and December. 

Cooking up a feast first is the well-known Dungannon based Norah Brown MBE, who will appear at Tyrone Craft & Farmers Market in Dungannon on Saturday 20 November at 9.30am, 10.40am and 11.30am. Her mouth-watering menu will include Festive Soda Bread Pizza, Turkey Olives with Cranberry Sauce and Stuffed Bramley Apples. 

An alternative Christmas is on the table from Chef Sean Owens in Cookstown (beside the Ulster Bank) on Saturday 4 December at 9.30am, 11.30am and 1.30pm, as he treats us to Lough Neagh Smoked Eel Parfait, Medallions of Cookstown Pork Fillet and Christmas Orange Truffle Cake.
Finishing the trio of talented cooks is Bronagh Duffin from Bakehouse NI, who will give her cookery demonstration in Rainey Street Car Park, Magherafelt on Thursday 16 December at 10am, 11.30am and 1.30pm, where the menu will include Christmas Celeriac and Black Truffle soup, Left Over Christmas Dinner Pasta Bake, Sloe Gin Cranberry Sauce and Christmas Sprouts, Italian Cranberry Soda Bread and Christmas Truffles to finish. 

All cookery demonstrations are free to attend, with tasty samples on offer so you can try some fantastic local produce for yourself, and recipes will be available to take home so you can test them out in your own kitchen – simply look for the Taste Mid Ulster food cart and turn up at the times above.
