Premiere For The Priests In Dungannon

Acclaimed trio ‘The Priests’ will perform for the first time in Dungannon next week, in the atmospheric setting of St Patrick’s Church.

Promising an unforgettable evening of classical music, Fathers Martin O’Hagan, Eugene O’Hagan and David Delargy will be accompanied by the pianist, Ruth McGinley, who recently released her debut album, and supported by Gemma Prince, Soprano and Northern Ireland Opera Young Artist, together with the classical singers, Cantabelles.

Part of the week-long ‘Gathering of the Clans’ (18th to 26th June) organised by Mid Ulster District Council, the concert is one of a series of events taking place in the year which marks the 400th anniversary of the death of Hugh ‘The Great’ O’Neill, the last Chieftain to be inaugurated at Tullaghoge Fort and the last Earl of Tyrone and Baron of Dungannon to bear the title of “The O’Neill”.

The varied programme, which has the ancient sites of Tullaghoge Fort, Cookstown and the Hill of the O’Neill, Dungannon at its heart, also includes walking tours of the Sperrins, an exploration of ancient battle and historic sites at Yellow Ford, near Armagh, music to celebrate the summer solstice at Beaghmore Stone Circles on 21st June, the Sounds of the Clans in the Burnavon, Cookstown and a free family fun day to close the events at Ranfurly House Arts and Visitors Centre on 26 June.
