Cookstown’s comic leading men will take to the Burnavon stage again this month for a seriously good cause.
The cast are back performing to raise vital funds for member Robert Ryan as he continues to battle a brain tumour with potentially life-saving immunotherapy treatment, which must be self-funded and costs up to £30,000 for each session.
Robert Ryan is a familiar face to many Burnavon audiences, both through his front of house role, welcoming people to the theatre over the years with his broad smile and gentleman's grace, as well as from the other side of the curtain when he was an original cast member in the Open Door Theatre Company production of 'Leading Men', written and directed by local playwright and comedienne, Carol Doey.
Once again directed by Carol, the evening promises a series of comedic sketches, much hilarity and a good dose of local musical talent in an entertaining show, and she said:
“As one of Cookstown's leading men, Robbie has given so much to our community and now we want to repay him, by helping Robbie and his wife Nuala fundraise for this new treatment. We are proud to be able to be contributing and hope that the local community will support us by coming along for a great night’s craic”.
All ticket sales from the night will go towards the “Immunotherapy for Robbie Campaign”, (to donate visit www.gofundme.com/22hxe5g).
The Leading Men perform on Thursday 20 October at 8pm in the Burnavon, Cookstown. Tickets priced £12.50 are available online from www.burnavon.com or by calling 028 8676 9949.
