Council hold Civic Awards evening to recognise local sporting achievement

Five local sports teams were honoured by Mid Ulster District Council at its third Civic Awards evening last Wednesday, 18 May.

Hosted by the Chair of the Council, Councillor Cáthal Mallaghan, the event held in Ranfurly House Arts and Visitor Centre and The Hill of The O’Neill, Dungannon, recognised an impressive array of sporting achievement in Mid Ulster.

Sports clubs and accomplishments acknowledged on the night were: Clonoe O’Rahilly’s Under 14 Boys - Tyrone Feile Winners, Tyrone League Winners and Tyrone Championship Winners, Clonoe O’Rahilly’s Under 14 Girls - Tyrone League Winners and Champion Grade 2 Winners, Errigal Ciaran Minor Girls - Tyrone Minor Championship Grade 1.

Errigal Ciaran Senior Girls - Tyrone Senior Championship Grade 1 and Eoghan Ruadh Hurling Club Under 14s - Canon Fogarty All-Ireland Feile na nGael, Antrim League Division 1, Tyrone Feile na nGael, Tyrone Championship, Tyrone League and Derry Under 13 Division 1.

Speaking at the event, Chair of Mid Ulster District Council, Councillor Cáthal Mallaghan, commented:

“We have so much sporting achievement in Mid Ulster, and this event was testament to that. I feel it is essential that we acknowledge and reward the accomplishments of our local sports clubs and teams. I congratulate all the teams here tonight and wish them continued success in the future.”
