This year’s Picnic in the Park certainly promises to take you up-up-and-away as balloon modelling extraordinaire and Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalist Ryan Tracey attempts to set another World Record live at the event!
Organised by Mid Ulster District Council the free family fun day takes place at Dungannon Park on Monday 28 August from 12 noon – 5pm and marks the end of the school summer holidays. There will be live music, family entertainment and guests can bring their own picnic food and blankets. Food will also be available to purchase on-site.
As well as the 'Most Balloon Dogs Created Behind the Back in 1 Minute' world record attempt by the Britain’s Got Talent Semi-Finalist, there will be plenty of other activities taking place throughout the afternoon to entertain the whole family and officially banish those back-to-school blues!
From 12 the park will be buzzing with live music from top bands to suit a variety of musical tastes including Limavady Big Band, bringing an unforgettable swing experience with a fantastic performance of sophisticated jazz standards and swing favourites, and The Untouchables, who are well known in the NI music scene for their broad range of pop and rock from Sinatra to Queen, Bob Marley to Green day and many more.
Why not test your skills at the African Drumming Workshop, flaunt your creativity at the Arts and Crafts workshop by creating Sandless Sandcastles, and sit and enjoy one of the family performances.
Other free activities for all the family include Trailer Trampolines, the nerve testing 25ft tall inflatable Infinity Tower, Krazy Karts, Climbing tower, Go Fly your kite workshop, face painting, balloon modelling, Teddybear’s Picnic Dance Party, puppet shows, magic shows and much more.
Chair of Mid Ulster District Council, Councillor Kim Ashton, said, “We are extremely lucky to have an incredible facility like Dungannon Park in our district and events like Picnic in the Park give us the perfect opportunity to truly showcase it. The event is definitely a firm-favourite in the town and I know this year will be no different due to the superb line-up of entertainment planned for the day. In fact this year will be extra special with Ryan Tracey’s world record attempt taking place live during the event!
“Picnic in the Park brings to a close the Council’s impressive summer events programme which saw successful events in Dungannon, Ballyronan and Maghera- to name but a few. It will be back to the school madness in a couple of days so allowing people to enjoy a fun, relaxing family event in such a picturesque surrounding is the perfect way to round things off.”
