Challenge To ‘Conquer the Cairn’

06 August 2015

Local people are being challenged to ‘conquer the cairn’ next week (Saturday 15th August).

Runners and walkers can join the group taking to the trails at Knockmany Forest, Augher. The 1 mile race commences at 11.00am primarily for children, followed by the 5 mile race at 11.30am for adults.

The event is the latest in a series designed to showcase the best that the Blackwater region has to offer to visitors and is organised by the Blackwater Regional Partnership, which includes Mid Ulster District Council, Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council and Monaghan County Council.

Getting ready to participate in the challenge, Conor McCarroll, said:

“This is another opportunity for people to get out and enjoy some of the landscape which defines the Blackwater region and to begin to appreciate the range of activities and attractions that are on offer here.

“I’m looking forward to taking on the challenge and to welcoming visitors and locals alike to Knockmany”.

Conquer the Cairn takes place on Saturday 15th August. Registration will take place at the lower car park at 10.00am. To register or find out more about the event, contact Kate Corrigan kate.corrigan@yahoo.co.uk or Julie Corey julie.corey@midulstercouncil.org or visit www.blackwaterregion.com
