Christmas is fast approaching - lights are on, decorations are up, and shops are most definitely open for business.
While this is a busy time of year and we naturally get caught up in the preparations, the parties and the presents, there are others who don’t find as much to celebrate, whether as a result of poverty, ill-health, bereavement or loneliness.
So, in the midst of all the activity, I would ask that you spare a thought for those who may be less fortunate. You could support one of the many local appeals with a gift or donation, give of your time to help a good cause or simply drop in on an older neighbour or relative who might live alone to bring them some of your Christmas cheer. A little can go a long way.
I wish you all a very happy Christmas and a peaceful and prosperous 2016.
