Residents and their children in the Dungannon area are enjoying new play equipment in the Milltown play park off Mark Street, thanks to funding from the Housing Executive.
In a joint project involving Mid Ulster District Council and the Milltown Area Community Association, the Housing Executive contacted the local community about accessing European funding that was available to communities across Northern Ireland. Through discussions with the community association, it was agreed that we enhance the local play park by installing a basket net swing.
With the Housing Executive’s funding of £5,000 and some inter-agency collaboration, the play area has now been transformed. Mid Ulster District Council, who own the play park, arranged for the removal of old equipment and a basket net swing has now been installed for everyone in the local community to enjoy.
Speaking at the launch of the play park today the Housing Executive’s Mid Ulster Area Manager, Michael Dallat, said:
“By working in partnership with Milltown Area Community Association and Mid Ulster District Council, the Housing Executive has been able to access BRIC2 European funding to upgrade this play park. It was a pleasure to collaborate on this project and produce something the local community are benefiting from.”
Councillor Kim Ashton, Chair of Mid Ulster District Council was also at the launch. She said:
“We are delighted to see the play park improved for all the residents in Milltown. By working in partnership with the Housing Executive and the Milltown Area Community Association, we have brought about a new focus for the local community and through the power of play and provision of this brand new equipment, we hope to create many happy memories for the residents of our District for years to come!”
