Chair of Mid Ulster District Council, Councillor Sean McPeake has congratulated Castlecaulfield on being awarded Gold and topping their category at this year’s prestigious Britain in Bloom Awards.
Castlecaulfield received a Gold Award and were crowned the Village Category Winner with Chairperson of the Horticultural Society, Bob McClure also picking up the Community Champion Award.
Congratulating the village, and Castlecaulfield Horticultural society, the Chair said, “Massive congratulations to Castlecaulfield on their impressive success at this year’s prestigious Britain in Bloom Awards. To be awarded Gold in the Village category and then to actually win and top the overall category is a phenomenal achievement. This is the second time the village has experienced this level of success having topped the same category in 2016 which speaks volumes about the dedication, commitment and passion of all those involved and the calibre of the work being done on the ground.
“Well done to Bob McClure on also winning the Community Champion Award, I can’t think of a more deserving winner for the effort and time he, along with all the members, affords to the society and to the village.
“This latest victory comes just a week after Donaghmore won the 2018 Best Kept Small Village at the annual Best kept Awards proving there is no stopping our villages when it comes to their community spirit and enthusiasm. We are very fortunate to have such inspirational villages in our district and I look forward to hearing of many more successes in the future.”
