The experts have had their say and at a ceremony on the Hill of The O’Neill this July, three green spaces in Mid Ulster; the Hill of The O’Neill, Dungannon, Dungannon Park, and Maghera Walled Garden, were given the prestigious Green Flag Award.
Now, the Award Scheme is asking you to have your say and decide which of this year's winners should receive the People’s Choice Awards for being the UK’s and the world's favourites, and Mid Ulster District Council are encouraging you to vote for one of its three sites.
Whether you enjoy visiting a park or green space to play football, walk the dog, exercise or simply get away from the hustle and bustle, if you think your favourite deserves to be in the top 10 People’s Choice then cast your vote.
Chair of Mid Ulster District Council, Cllr. Sean McPeake encouraged residents to get behind the three local sites in the campaign saying,
“We are extremely proud of our green spaces across the district, and were delighted from a Mid Ulster perspective that The Hill of The O’Neill joined Dungannon Park and Maghera Walled Garden in winning the accolade this year.
“The People’s Choice Award is a chance to show how much your favourite park means to you. We think our area is worth shouting about, so we’re asking residents to make their voices heard and vote now.”
All you have to do is find your favourite Mid Ulster green space on the Award Winners tab map at http://www.greenflagaward.org.uk/ , open the description and click the voting button on the right. When you have voted why not encourage others to get involved too through social media using #PeoplesChoice!
Voting takes place until 30 September, with the top 10 sites in the UK and top ten internationally being announced on 16 October.
